This past Sunday the members of both the Obedience Club and the Corpus Christi Kennel Club got together for our very first Barn Hunt training class. Barn Hunt is a new dog sport that is being offered though the Barn Hunt Association, and the AKC recognizes the titles. Sami, one of the members of both clubs, has been to several hunts and training classes and put together a fantastic first class! We learned about the basics of the sport, the different levels and course changes for the different dog size ranges, along with how climbing and tunneling work and started teaching our dogs to be comfortable around and on the bales of hay that make up the courses. Everyone was having so much fun that the class went an hour over what it was originally scheduled for!
